"Decompose is an application allowing an easy and flawless extraction of elements from pictures in order to use them to make composite images. It is the perfect tool for making images for web pages, newspapers and magazines or simply for your own creations."

Decompose is from Metakine saves the extracted image as a TIFF, and also corrects colors to remove the previous background. You can try this out for free in demo mode, or can purchase the full version for $29.95 USD. They also have a set of video tutorials to help you make your decision, and this requires Mac OS X 10.4.

Pixelmator 1.5 for Snow Leopard

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 09:00 AM

http://www.pixelmator.com/weblog/20...tor-1-5-spider/

"The Pixelmator Team released Pixelmator 1.5 today, an update to the revolutionary GPU-powered image editing tool that provides everything needed to create, edit, and enhance still images. Available as a free software update, Pixelmator 1.5, codenamed Spider, features Save for Web, a Slice tool, a Trim tool, Info Labels, and more."

This update gives Pixelmator Snow Leopard compatibility, as well as some other new features such as a Slice tool, Trim tool and Info Labels. This is a pretty powerful image editor, and with each update they make it easier to forget about other ones such as Photoshop. If you aren't sure about it, check out their video tutorials, which go over each function and you will see what I'm talking about. It is available now at the Pixelator site for $59.00 USD, or you can try it for 30 days before buying by downloading and using the fully functional demo.
